Hello, my name is Kylie ...

I was born in 1984 on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland. I moved out of home when I was 18 and have studied and worked in several different fields. In 2006 I married my wonderful husband and in February 2009 we had our first child, a beautiful boy we named Aled. I have always been fortunate to be a very healthy and fit person and so chose the public hospital systems and the birthing centre at the John Hunter Hospital as my care providers. I had an amazing birth experience and despite being only 2 days over (wouldn’t we all like our bubba to arrive on that magical date) everything went exactly to plan. I had the most empowering and natural birthing experience – just like the ones I had researched and dreamt about.

Since my boy was 3 months old my husband and I spent some time overseas and I started to look for my life calling; my passion. When a friend fell pregnant, we started to discuss birth options and I realised that helping women achieve their ultimate birthing experience was what I was looking for.

In April 2011, I again gave birth to a beautiful little girl. This time at the Ipswich Publich hospital as apart of the Group Midwife Practice. After learning everything that I have since becoming a doula, this birth was even more amazing than my first. I am so thankful I had continunity of care and personal support.

The development of my doula philosophy has come from talking to woman about their births (both here in Australia and overseas). I have come to understand that we all have different birth preferences and beliefs. My primary goal is for women to be fully informed when developing their own birth perception because this will help to achieve their perfect birth (whatever that may be).

Edcation is the key. When I am asked questions or think of something I don't fully understand I bury my head in the book; research both sides of the coin; ask experts; and hope that I can help other women to do this too.

I feel blessed to help inform and empower expecting families. I am honoured to be able to support and empower women on their journey to motherhood.
