How I can help...

As your doula I provide unbiased information, emotional, physical and practical support.

During your pregnancy, I will:

  • Develop your and your partner's understanding of each other's birth experience.
  • Help you conceptualise your perfect birth (whether it be natural, assisted or caesarean) and develop your unique birth plan.
  • Provide an objective viewpoint by balancing your emotional needs with your clinical care advice.
  • Assist you in getting any unbiased information you need to make informed decisions, without imposing my personal birth ideals on you.
  • Support your decisions and respect your individuality - I will not make decisions for you.
  • Facilitate communication between you and clinical care providers.
  • I am not there to replace your partner, but rather enhance their role. Being the sole support person, especially for someone you care so deeply for, can be daunting. I encourage your partner to be involved as much, or as little as they like.

During your birth I will:

  • Be an integral part of your maternity care team.
  • Work closely with your midwives and doctors to provide the best care for you.
  • Focus entirely on you and your needs, without performing clinical tasks.
  • Maintain the relaxed and supportive birthing environment you have chosen.
  • Provide support according to your physical needs (like massage, aromatherapy, positioning etc).
  • Provide constant reassurance, physical and emotional support for you and your partner.
  • Complement your partner’s role, not replace it, to form the perfect support team for you.
  • Provide unbiased information allowing you to make informed choices.

Special Support

Teenage Mums

Even the most experienced of us need a bit of extra support and respect during pregnancy or birth and afterwards but being a teenage mum can make it all that bit harder.

Your first birth experience can shape the way you choose to parent, your outlook in life and your future births.

This is why I believe that teenage mums should have access to even more support and care. For this reason, at the moment I am offering my doula services for free to those under 18.

Defence Mums on their own

Being a Defence spouse is not easy at the best of times. We all want to share our birth experience with our partner. Then they are sent away. They often not only miss the birth but may also be away in those crucial stages of pregnancy.

As a Defence spouse I would like to offer my services to any other Defence spouse (whose partner cannot be there for the birth) for a reduced fee.
